  • Two of my great passions in life are travel and photography. I believe that travel broadens one`s view of the world. Experiencing other cultures, meeting people from other communities and other countries and seeing the beauty, and sometimes ugliness, of the world has helped me understand that all of our lives are at once interconnected and individual. It has made me better appreciate my own home and culture as well as that of the people I`ve met and the lands I`ve seen and I have become a much more tolerant person as a result. Through my photography I seek to document my own personal experiences, to capture scenes and events as I see them and to share with others the beauty and diversity of the world I`ve seen. As the images of other photographers have inspired me to explore the world, I hope my own contributions will inspire others to do the same.

Though originally trained as a mechanical engineer and currently a fine woodcrafter, I have been involved in photography since childhood. I experienced a renewed enthusiasm and appreciation for photography when the digital age hit photography. From the moment I purchased my first digital camera I saw this as an opportunity to learn at an even faster rate and create some truly beautiful photographs.

After my innicial digital shock I looked back to film for several years while the resolution of digital cameras caught up with what I was looking for. During this time I built a large gallery of slides and print negatives of many different subjects including lots of portraits of my son in his baby years, flowers, landscapes, sports and pretty much anything else that passed in front of my lens.  In 2002 I tried my hand at an online print store to share my work with others. Sales were not quite what I was looking at but it helped further my passion to see other people interested in buying and viewing my work.

After getting some of my images out there for the public to see I began to receive some requests for wedding photography. I shot several diferent weddings over the next few years some paid, some just for a new experience. I also got involved shooting freelance for a local newspaper called the Berthoud Recorder. I enjoyed the new experience from weddings at the newspaper. Photojournailism is a completely different style of photography that I will always love.

Today I license images for all manner of commercial and editorial use. I specialize in abstract portrait photography. I shoot completely with digital now. I use the top of the line Olympus E-3.
